A bevel gear device is equipped with a gear meshing with a pinion 3 pivoted by a pinion shaft 2 fixed upright on the casing 1 of the bevel gear device, and a thin groove 7 stretching radially is provide in a pinion washer 6 interposed between the casing 1 and pinion 3, wherein the pinion washer 6 can make three-dimensional deformation with a relatively high degree of freedom even in the case manufacturing errors are generated between its inside and outside surfaces, outside surface of the pinion 3, and the inside surface of a differential case 1, and when positioned between the pinion 3 and differential case 1, makes easy run-in to their surfaces so that it can conduct smooth rotation and exert functions such as to restrict the differential motion, etc., without involving risk of any trouble originating from single-sided contacting, galling, seizure, etc.
