Abstract:
To reduce the number of times of writing data into the same pixel circuit in one frame period by digital drive.
A pixel circuit 400A includes a holding capacitor 410 which holds a data signal Xj; a switching element SW1 by which, when a scanning signal Yi becomes active, the data signal Xj is taken in the holding capacitor 410; a comparator 420 by which a lamp signal S having a horizontal scanning period cycle is compared with the data signal Xj held in the holding capacitor 410; and a selection circuit 440 by which, based on an output signal of the comparator 420, the pulse width modulated signal is generated to be supplied to an liquid crystal element 450.
