Abstract:
To ensure conduction of high-quality optical communication without the propagation of unwanted propagation light through a protective coating when a beam-condensing lens is not used in combination with a light source and even when visible light or IR light in short-distance communication is used.
The plastic optical fiber is formed by using a resin containing a suitable substance for a core 1 and a clad 2 and is obtained by using a hydrocarbon resin for the protective coating 3 formed on the outer periphery of the clad 2, in which an absorption layer 4 containing dyestuffs 42 to absorb the light of specific wavelengths is formed on the outermost layer of the protective coating 3.
