To provide a polymer film showing an axial shift inhibitive effect and a solution film forming method for manufacturing a film which is best suited for an electronic display and has a uniformity of a delayed phase axis direction.
In this solution film forming method, a dope containing TAC is cast over a casting band to form a cast film and released as a wet film 46 after the cast film gains self-supporting properties. Next, the wet film 46 is sent to a tenter dryer 60 and stretched by a stretching part 81 following the preheating of the film 46 at an inlet part 80. After that, the film 46 is subjected to a film width contracting process in a relaxation part 82, then passed through an outlet part 83 and finally delivered as a film 61. When the bite width is given as L1(mm), the maximum stretching width as L2(mm) and the breakaway width as L3(mm), the relationship of 1<(L2-L3)/L1×100<15 is established. Thus the film 61 is free from the generation of a bowing phenomenon.
