Title:
POLYMERIZATION BY MICROWAVE HEATING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03281606
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To polymerize a radical-polymerizable polymeric monomer by heating chiefly the monomer only by applying the monomer to the surface of a substrate or packing it into a mold and applying radiofrequency waves thereto. CONSTITUTION:A radical-polymerizable polymeric monomer is applied to the surface of a substrate or packed into a mold and is polymerized by applying radiofrequency waves to the monomer to heat chiefly this monomer only. According to the above process, the polymeric monomer is radical-polymerized by applying radiofrequency waves of, for example, 1GHz to an unpolymerized polymeric monomer, so that the polymerization can be accomplished without being affected by the contained fine inorganic powder such as a magnetic powder or carbon black which interrupts the transmission of light. Further, when the polymeric monomer is applied to a magnetic tape susceptible to heat, the monomer can be selectively heated. Therefore, a high-quality magnetic tape can be produced inexpensively.
