To obtain a portable terminal with a good appearance that can be mounted only by pulling a strap without using a sharp-pointed tool, and that is not easily removed during usage.

A mobile phone 1 (portable terminal) to and from which a strap 10 can be attached and detached has a housing 3 made of a dish-like molding. The mobile phone is provided with a neck portion 7 on a base end surrounded by an approximate C-shaped through slit 5 formed on the housing 3; and a strap mounting portion 6 having a tongue portion 8 continued to the neck portion 7 and wider than the neck portion 7. Then, removal-preventing protrusion portions 9 are provided on opposed walls forming the through slit 5 on both sides of a coupling portion 11 of the neck portion 7 and the tongue portion 8. One insertion hole 4a in which the strap 10 mounted to the strap mounting portion 6 is formed on a battery cover 4 covering a surface side of the housing 3. Also, the tongue portion 8 is tapered toward a tip.
