Title:
PREVENTION OF DUSTING FROM MOLDED PITCH
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5628288
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent dusting in handling molded pitch without degrading the properties of the pitch, by coating the molded pitch with an oil having a characterization factor and boiling point expressed by a specific relationship of specified values or above.

CONSTITUTION: Granular coal tar pitch of grain size 3W5mm is sprayed with preferably 0.01W0.5wt% an oil having a characterization factor ≥11.0 expressed by the formula [Tb is an average molecular boiling point (°R); G is the specific density of a liquid (60°F/60°F)] and a boiling point ≥360°C, e.g. lubricating oil or heavy oil from Minas, while being rotated in a rotating drum. The oil is heated to give a suitable viscosity if necessary, and the spraying is facilitated to uniform the coating on pitch.

EFFECT: Labor and health problems of workers can be solved.

USE: A binder for carbon electrodes.
