Abstract:

PURPOSE: To detect a drill reaching the back side conductor layer of a printed circuit board.

CONSTITUTION: In a printed circuit board drilling machine, a control device 8 is provided with the function of generating a Z-axis moving command for moving a drill 5 in the Z-axis direction and the function of generating a switch command SWA and a switch command SWB. A contact detecting device 9 applies voltage VD to the conductor layer 3a of a printed circuit board 3 by the switch command SWA from the control device 8 and grounds a conductor layer 3c by the switch command SWB. The drill 5 is charged by coming in contact with the conductor layer 3a and discharges by coming in contact with the conductor layer 3c. The contact detecting device 9 can detect the drill 5 having reached the conductor layer 3c by detecting the voltage Ve of the conductor layer 3c even if the drill 5 and the conductor layer 3a are contactless.
