To realize excellent designing, an improved adhesion to a plastic film, and a high luminance due to a high hiding power and obtain a printed plastic with a high metallic appearance by adding a specified amt. of an aluminum powder to a gravure printing ink contg. an ink base and a solvent.
An object to be printed is a plastic film (e.g. a film of polyethylene, polypropylene, or a polyester). The aluminum powder is pref. one in the form of flakes because of its sufficient hiding power at a small loading. The average particle size of the aluminum powder is 10-20μm, and in the case of a flaky one, the average size of the plane parts is 10-20μm. Aluminum is subjected to vapor deposition to form a thin film and then pulverized, or aluminum particles are crushed together with a resin and a solvent with a ball mill to form a paste. The amt. of the aluminum powder compound into the ink is at least 10wt.% of the ink base (the ink except the solvent).
