PURPOSE: To print respective pages under a desired printing condition which is different from the previous printing condition by a method wherein a printing condition changing means individually changes and sets a printing condition for a printing means, based on setting conditions for respective items from a setting means.

CONSTITUTION: A printer control unit 1000 which analyzes character information, etc., mainly converts a character pattern corresponding to character information into a video signal, and outputs the video signal to a laser driver 1502. The laser driver 1502 is a circuit which drives a semiconductor laser 1503, and on/off switches a laser beam 1504 which is emitted from the semiconductor laser 1503, in response to the input video signal. The laser beam 1504 is deflected by a rotary polygon mirror 1505 in the lateral direction and scans and an electrostatic drum 1506 is exposed to the laser beam 1504. By this method, an electrostatic latent image of a character pattern is formed on the electrostatic drum 1506. This latent image is developed by a development unit 1507 which is arranged around the electrostatic drum 1506, and then is transferred to a recording paper.
