To inform traveling of an elevator by use of an integrated and simple device by providing a counterweight of an elevator with a private power generation means, charging a battery unit with power generated by the means, and supply power from the battery unit to start a traveling warning device.

A traveling warning device comprises a wind force turning blade 10, a private power generation means C formed by a power generator 11 connected and driven through an accelerating gear, a battery unit D for regulating the output of generated power to prevent overcharging by a regulator, and a traveling warning device E including a traveling detecting means started by power supplied by the battery unit D and a warning informing means. Thus, persons near an elevator can be informed of traveling of a counterweight 12 by a warning sound, so that the dangerous condition can be avoided to ensure safety.
