Abstract:

To accurately measure the elasticity of the brain parenchyma by laminatingly providing a first and a second chamber, introducing a first pressure transmission medium in the first chamber, introducing a second pressure transmission medium in the second chamber, and measuring the change in the epidural pressure.

A measuring probe 5A is provided with a first chamber 5c which has a thin film formed into a bag shape so as to be contracted and expanded by introducing an air therein and a second chamber 5d which is laminated on the first chamber 5c and has a thin film formed into a bag shape so as to be contracted and expanded by introducing an air therein. A first and second tube 5a, 5b are connected to the first and the second chambers 5c, 5d respectively. A prescribed quantity of air is introduced from the measuring device to the first chamber 5c so as to measure the epidural pressure applied on the first chamber 5c, secondly a prescribed air is injected in the second chamber 5d using a syringe for injecting an air, and the change in the epidural pressure displayed on the measuring device is measured.
