Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a Ziegler-type catalyst, which can control bulk density and crystallinity of unsaturated hydrocarbon polymers, in high yields by contacting a co-catalyst components, a transition metal component and an external electron donor component with a specific order and for a specific time.

CONSTITUTION: A Ziegler-type catalyst composition comprising (A) a transition metal component, (B) an external electron donor composition and (C) a co- catalyst composition is provided by the following steps: contacting component C with either of component A and B for 5 to 120 seconds; contacting the mixture with the other of component A and B for ≤110 seconds; contacting the mixture with an unsaturated hydrocarbon and polymerizing the unsaturated hydrocarbon in the presence of the obtained Ziegler-type catalyst composition. When propylene is used as the unsaturated hydrocarbon, TiCl4 supported on a support such as magnesiumdichloride or the like is preferred as the component A, a trialkyl aluminium is preferred as the component B, and cyclohexylmethyldimethoxysilane is preferred as the component C.
