To clean a packaging machine, by cleaning an area of a machine, soiled with dust, tobacco, etc., during the operation of the device and the de- energization and deceleration of the device, by the sucking and/or jetting of air and/or a mechanical action such as brushing or raking off.
After the operation and deceleration of a packaging machine for cigarette packs are finished, a selected area and a unit are cleaned by cleaning means. The cleaning means each have a collecting/sucking device comprising a suction pipe 27 communicating with a central dust-collection- container 26 provided in the area where dust and particles accumulate, and it is connected to a negative pressure source. Also, a pocket 23 and a pocket chain 14 which are actuated by pressing force are provided, immediately below them the collection container 26 is provided, and the particles are caused to fall by their own weights. Further, the tobacco and dust which fall on a face 28 are blown off by the flow 32 of air jetted from jet nozzles 30 and 31 and they are recovered into the collection container 26.
