Abstract:
To provide a method for efficiently and economically producing an alcohol.
This method for producing an alcohol by reacting an aldehyde, a ketone or a fatty acid ester with hydrogen comprises using a modified sponge copper catalyst obtained by developing an alloy comprising copper, aluminum, iron, vanadium and one of manganese, silicon and nickel, or obtained by carrying out an oxidation treatment of the developed alloy.
