Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject adduct in high catalytic activity with a small amount of a used catalyst in a short time and inexpensively by using the specific catalyst, reacting an active hydrogen-containing organic compound with an alkylene oxide, having a narrow addition mol distribution, useful as a surfactant, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This adduct is obtained by reacting an active hydrogen- containing organic compound such as a 6-24C primary alcohol, an ethylene glycol mono- 1-6C alkyl ether, a 8-22C (hydroxy) fatty acid, etc., with an alkylene oxide in the presence of a catalyst of Al.Mg compound oxide prepared by baking and activating aluminum.magnesium hydroxide of the formula, nMgO.Al2O3.mH2 ((m) and (n) are each a positive integer). The baking temperature in obtaining the component A is preferably 200-1,000°C.
