Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an α-olefin oligomer in high yield and selectivity by oligomerizing an α-olefin in the presence of a specific chromium-based catalyst prepared by a specific method.
SOLUTION: First, a chromium-based catalyst is prepared by reaction between a chromium compound, pyrrole-contg. compound, alkylaluminum compound and halogen-contg. compound in the absence of an α-olefin in hydrocarbon and/or halohydrocarbon solvent (e.g. toluene/cyclohexane) so as to be ≤8×10-3mol/L in the chromium compound concentration of the mixed reaction liquor. Next, in the presence of this chromium-based catalyst, the α-olefin is oligomerized (esp. ethylene trimerization is predominant) at 0-250°C under a pressure of normal to 250kg/cm2 for one min to 20h to obtain the objective α-olefin oligomer such as of 1-hexene.
