Title:
PRODUCTION OF CHLOROSULFONATED POLYOLEFIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3203710
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject polymer good in stability to coloring and scorching without adversely affecting the ozonosphere by using trichloroethane as a solvent in chlorinating and chlorosulfonating a polyolefin in the solvent.
CONSTITUTION: 1,1,2-Trichloroethane is initially used as a solvent and a polyolefin is dissolved or suspended in the solvent. The polyolefin dissolved or suspended in the solvent is then chlorinated or chlorinated and chlorosulfonated with chlorine and sulfurous acid gas, chlorine and sulfuryl chloride, sulfuryl chloride alone, sulfuryl chloride and sulfurous acid gas or three reagents of chlorine, sulfurous acid gas and sulfuryl chloride in the presence of a catalyst composed of a radical former (preferably α, α'- azobisisobutyronitrile). Furthermore, the 1,1,2-trichloroethane without containing alcoholic compounds and/or epoxy compounds is preferably used.
