Abstract:
PURPOSE:To produce a cis-1,4-polybutadiene while preventing the formation of a gel during the polymerization by polymerizing 1, 3-butadiene in the presence of a catalyst comprising an organoaluminum halide compound, a transition metal compound and water in an inert organic solvent in such a manner that the water is dispersed in the above solvent specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:A process for producing a cis-1,4-polybutadiene by polymerizing 1,3-butadiene in the presence of a catalyst comprising an organoaluminum halide compound (e.g. diethylaluminum monochloride), a transition metal compound (e.g. cobalt octoate) and water in an inert organic solvent (e.g. benzene and n-butane), wherein a necessary amount of the water is passed through a porous filter medium (e.g. sintered stainless filter) having a pore diameter of 5mum or below and is dispersed in the solvent or a solution of the 1,3-butadiene in the solvent.
