Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve contrast characteristics by applying a red luminous fluorescent material coated with a definite composition composed of alkali sulfoselenide and cadomium sulfoselenide, and then heat-treating in an oxidation atmosphere.

CONSTITUTION: A red luminous fluorescent material coated with a composition composed of alkali sulfoselenide and cadmium sulfoselenide, represented by the general formula of xA2(SSe).yCd(SSe), (wherein 0.1≤x/y≤1 and A is a member of the group consisting of Na, K and Li) is applied onto a glass panel of a color cathode ray tube. Next, the fluorescent material applied onto the glass panel is treated at a temperature of 350W550°C in an oxidation atmosphere.
