PURPOSE: To provide a disc brake cover excellent in waterproofness and heat resistance and preventing the adhesion of water to a rotor by compacting a mat like paper material formed from a fibrilated waste paper material to which a specific resin is added under heating and pressure to mold the same into a predetermined cover shape and performing the mutual welding and thermosetting of the paper fibers of the molded cover.

CONSTITUTION: As a waste paper material becoming a raw material, a paper material discarded heretofore such as a waterproof paper sheet having a thermoplastic resin applied to the surface thereof in predetermined film thickness is used. This paper material is passed through the gap between rolls fitted with nails to fibers and finely divide the paper and thermoplastic resin layer of the paper material and a thermoplastic resin and a heat-resistant resin are added to the fiberized and finely divided matter to uniformly stirr the resulting mixture to form a predetermined mat like paper material 19. This material 19 is pressed by molds 21a, 21b so as to be formed into a shape almost coinciding with that of a disc brake cover 1 not only to melt the thermoplastic resin but also to mutually weld paper fibers and yarns to cure a thermosetting resin. Next, the unnecessary part (burr) of the outer peripheral edge of a cylindrical part 1b, the part of the through-holes 19 of an outside plate and the part of the notch part 11 of the cylindrical part 1b are burnt off to mold the disc brake cover 1.
