Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a process for producing an ester capable of obtaining in high yield by reacting an olefin with carbon monoxide and an alcohol at a low temperature for a short time and recovering hydrogen fluoride working as a catalyst to recycle.
CONSTITUTION: An acyl fluoride is synthesized by reacting an olefin with carbon monoxide in the presence of hydrogen fluoride and the obtained acyl fluoride is made to react with an alcohol. The obtained reaction solution of esterification is distilled under recycling an inactive saturated hydrocarbon having a higher boiling point than the acyl fluoride to recover hydrogen fluoride which is recycled to the reaction.
