Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce an Fe-Ni alloy sheet suitable for IC lead frame material and excellent in rust resistance by cold-rolling a hot rolled sheet of Fe-Ni alloy with specific composition and then applying stress relief annealing to the resulting cold rolled sheet in a specific atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: A slab of an Fe-Ni alloy, which has a composition consisting of, by weight, 38-52% Ni, <3.0% Cr, <0.10% Si, <0.05% Al, <0.009% C, <0.40% Mn, and the balance Fe or further containing <1.0% Co or has a composition consisting of, 26-38% Ni, >1-20% Co, the same amounts of Cr, Si, Al, C, and Mn, and the balance Fe, is used. This slab is hot-rolled into sheet-like state. The hot rolled sheet is coiled and cold-rolled at 15-29% cold rolling rate to the final sheet thickness. The resulting cold rolled sheet is held at 450-600°C for 0.5-300sec in an atmosphere having -20 to -60°C dew point and consisting of 2-10vol.% hydrogen, <0.01vol.% oxygen, and the balance inert gas of nitrogen series to undergo stress relief annealing. By this method, the Fe-Ni alloy sheet excellent in rust resistance can be produced.
