To provide a method for producing a formed fibrous material capable of utilizing as a board material for a construction, a cushioning material for a packing, etc.
This method for producing a formed fibrous material comprises cutting waste paper such as newspaper into small pieces, dissembling fibers thereof in water for dispersing the fiber, future dispersing a granular carbonized material such as charcoal or an inorganic light weight aggregate such as rumiceous (Shirasu) sand balloon in the water, then filtering them to aggregate the floating materials such as the waste paper to a prescribed thickness and compressing it to form a board. The board material thus obtained, is excellent in strength and heat insulation, and can be used as a substitute for a wood board as a construction material.
