Abstract:
To obtain HCFC-123 having an extremely low undesirable unsaturated component content, useful as a blowing agent for a polymerization foam, by treating HCFC-124 under a specific condition.
Gaseous HCFC-124 is brought into contact with a catalyst composed of trivalent chromium oxide (Cr2O3) supported on aluminum fluoride for 5-25 seconds at 150-260°C and disproportionated to give HCFC-123 having an olefin content lower than 10 ppm. In this case, in the catalyst, the content of fluorine of aluminum fluoride is not lower than 90% stoichiometric amount, the substrate is 100 wt.% ALF3 of gamma structure and an oxyfluoride, fluoride, etc., exist in the chromium oxide.
