To provide a jig for baking made of a zinc oxide-alumina composite material capable of producing a high-performance baked product without deformation in baking in a high yield by molding a mixture of zinc oxide powder with alumina powder at a specific ratio, baking and treating the resultant sintered compact in an atmosphere of zinc oxide.
This baking jig is obtained by mixing zinc oxide powder with alumina powder at a ratio of 20-50mol% of zinc oxide to 80-50mol% of alumina, molding the mixture, baking and treating the resultant sintered compact in an atmosphere of zinc oxide. Preferably, zirconia powder in an amount of 0.1-10wt.% based on the total of zinc oxide and alumina is mixed in preparing the raw material mixture because of obtaining a high-performance baked product by surely preventing a reaction of the resultant baking tool with a material to be baked. The treatment of the sintered compact in the zinc oxide atmosphere can be performed by charging the sintered compact in a vessel together with zinc oxide powder, sealing and holding at about 1,200-1,400°C for about 1-3hrs.
