Title:
PRODUCTION OF OPTICAL CABLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01224712
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To take an excess length of an optical fiber as designed by winding a cable core around a freely rotating idle pulley just after forming this cable core and taking off the cable core thereafter. CONSTITUTION:A freely rotating idle pulley 32 is provided before an extruder 24. Though the diameter of the idle pulley 32 is determined by a required excess length rate, the diameter of a take-up pulley 28 must be larger than this diameter. If the diameter of the take-up pulley 28 is smaller, a tension is applied to an optical fiber 18 in an optical cable 10 to degrade characteristics. A cable core 11 just after insertion of the optical fiber 18 into a slot 12 is wound around the idle pulley 32 by a certain number of turns and is taken off thereafter. Thus, the excess length is accurately controlled.
