Abstract:

PURPOSE: To stably produce an optical disk of high quality at high yield by melting and removing burrs and cut chips produced on the inner circumference edge and outer circumference edge of a disk substrate formed by injection molding.

CONSTITUTION: The production method includes a process of removing burrs and cut chips produced on the inner circumference edge and outer circumference edge of a disk substrate formed by injection molding. In this removing process, burrs and chips are fused by noncontact heating method using laser and removed. Any laser can be used as far as it can melt the disk substrate surface. The disk substrate is irradiated with laser beam by focusing the laser beam on the inner or outer circumference edge of the disk substrate and fixing the optical axis of the laser while rotating the disk substrate, or by scanning the optical axis of the laser light with a scanner while fixing the disk substrate. In this process, the irradiation energy is optimized by controlling the laser output, focusing degree, scanning speed, irradiation time and the like.
