Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain subject compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for medicines, etc., highly efficiently, by subjecting an acetylene bond-containing carbonyl compound to hydrogen transfer type asymmetric reduction in the presence of a hydrogen donative compound by the use of a specific catalyst.
SOLUTION: An acetylene bond-containing carbonyl compound (e.g. 4-phenyl-3- butyn-2-one) is subjected to hydrogen transfer type asymmetric reduction by using a three component-based catalyst of a transition metal complex, a base and an optically active nitrogen-containing compound, a two component based catalyst of an asymmetric metal complex composed of an optically active nitrogen-containing compound as a ligand and a base or a catalyst composed only of a transition metal complex, an optically active nitrogen compound and a base in the presence of a hydrogen donative organic or inorganic compound. A complex of the formula MXnYm (M is a transition metal of the group VIII; X is H, a halogen, etc.; Y is a neutral ligand). Preferably an optically active amine derivative such as 1,2-diphenylethylenediamine is preferable as the optically active nitrogen-containing compound.
