Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a particle board having excellent water-resistance, emitting little formalin smell because of extremely low volatile formaldehyde content by using a specific amino resin adhesive having excellent storage stability.
CONSTITUTION: The particle board is produced by using an adhesive consisting of an amino resin obtained by reacting (A) melamine, (B) formaldehyde and (C) methyl alcohol at a B/A molar ratio of 1.8-2.15 and a C/B molar ratio of 0.3-0.5 in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a caustic alkali (the molar ratio of the caustic alkali to the component B is 2-4wt.%). The amount of the component A is 50-70wt.% based on the non-volatile resin component.
