Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a (poly)alkylene glycol di(higher alkyl) ether in high reaction rate, high selectivity and high yield by using a long chain olefin, a (poly)alkylene glycol or a reaction product thereof as a direct raw material, and further using crystalline metalosilicate as a catalyst.
SOLUTION: The objective compound is obtained by reacting (A) an 8-30C long chain olefin having an ethylenically unsaturated bond with (B) a (poly) alkylene glycol, e.g. 0.05-20mol monoethylene glycol per mol long chain olefin by using (C) 0.05-100wt.% BEA-type crystalline aluminosilicate having 5-1500 atomic ratio of silicon atom to a metal atom and obtained by substituting a cation out of the crystal lattice with hydrogen ion as a catalyst based on the amount of the raw materials in the presence of (D) a solvent such as nitromethane preferably at 50-250°C under a pressure between a normal pressure and 20kg/cm2 for 0.5-30hr, and performing a separation of the catalyst from the reaction product, an extraction, a distillation operation, etc.
