Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method which does not peel polyester from a metallic sheet even in a washing stage for formed can bodies or the like in a process for producing wall ironed cans from a laminate consisting of the polyester and a metallic sheet.

CONSTITUTION: In the process for drawing and wall ironing the can body, a blank is cut out from the laminate consisting of aluminum or aluminum alloy and the polyester film and the blank is subjected to a lubricating treatment and is drawn to the cup having a side wall 8. The cup is then subjected wall ironing. The peripheral edge 14 at the terminal of the side wall 8 of the formed wall ironed can is heated at a temp. higher than 100°C and lower than the crystallization m. p. of the polyester film to prevent the delamination of the polyester film from the side wall of the can during washing which is the ensuing stage. The stage described above is also effectual in preventing the aluminum or aluminum alloy from being softened by the heating at the peripheral edge of the side wall 14.
