To increase the reaction rate to a sufficient level and enable stable formation of the reaction product by carrying out the hydrosilylation in the presence of substances extracted from soil, clay mineral, activated clay or coal substance with an organic solvent.
(A) A silicon compound of the formula: RaXbHcSi (R is a 1-20C alkyl; X is a halogen, an alkoxy, an acyloxy, hydroxyl group; a, b, c are each an integer of 0-3 wherein a+b+c=4), preferably methyldichlorosilane, dimethoxymethylsilane and (B) a compound bearing an alkenyl group, preferably a polypropylene oxide bearing an allyl group on the chain terminal are subjected to the hydrosilylation in the presence of (C) a catalyst containing a metal in the group 8 and (D) a substance extracted from soil, clay mineral, activated clay or coal substance with an organic solvent. The amount of the component D is preferably 0.0000001-0.1-fold in weight based out the component B.
