NEW MATERIAL: Compd. of formula I {where R1 is methyl, ethyl, propyl, vinyl, 2-hydroxyethyl or the like; R2 is H, 1-4C alkyl or (5-methyl-2-oxo-1,3-dioxol-4-yl)- methyl; R3 is H or amino; R4 is formula II or III [where (l) is 0-2; (m) is 1 or 2; 1≤l+m≤3; (n) is 1 or 2; Y is N(R')R" (R' is H, 1-3C alkyl or the like, and R" is H, 1-3C alkyl or the like) or the like; X1 is N(R')R" or the like; X2 and X3 are each H, S or the like; and R"' is H or 1-3C alkyl]; and A is N or C-R5 (R5 is H, halogen or the like)}.
EXAMPLE: 1-Cyclopropyl-7-(3-ethylaminomethyl-3-hydroxy-1pyrrolidinyl)-6,8- difluoro-1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-3-quinolinecarboxylic acid.
USE: Anti-bacterial agents and feedstuff additives.
PROCESS: The compds. of formula I are obtd. by reacting a compd. of formula IV (where Z is F or Cl) with a compd. of the formula, R4-H optionally in the presence of an acid capturing agent.
