PURPOSE: To improve durability for use in good state over a long period by sealing a stimulable phosphor layer in a space sandwiched by a folded resin sheet, and using the resin sheet as a protective film.
CONSTITUTION: A solvent, a plasticizer, and a binder are mixed with stimulable phosphors while ultrasonic waves are applied to manufacture a coating liquid. This coating liquid is degassed in vacuum, and it is applied on a protective film (resin sheet) 12 to form a stimulable phosphor layer 14. The phosphor layer 14 is dried, the protective film 12 is folded in two, two sides are thermally pressure-connected, the remaining side 12a is thermally pressure-connected in vacuum, and an X-ray image conversion sheet 10 sealed with the phosphor layer 14 is manufactured. The resin sheet 12 may be brought into direct contact with the surface and back face of the phosphor layer 14. A reflecting film may be formed on the surface of the resin sheet 12. The periphery section of the protective film 12 has little possibility to be peeled off, and it can be repeatedly used many times. The phosphor layer 14 is sealed in the protective film 12, and the performance deterioration due to moisture absorption can be prevented.
