To suppress low the fault rate of laser diodes of a radiographic information reading apparatus which uses a plurality of laser diodes as an excitation light source.

In the radiographic information reading apparatus equipped as the excitation light source the laser diodes 11a, 11b, 11c, ..., irradiating portions of a stimulable phosphor sheet 13, stored with radiographic information, linearly with excitation lights (laser beams) 10a, 10b, 10c, ..., the laser diodes 11a, 11b, 11c, ..., are arranged in such directions that the excitation lights 10a, 10b, 10c, ..., are incident on the stimulable phosphor sheet 13 almost in a state of only p-polarized lights.
