Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate manufacture and improve ozonolysis performance persistence by conducting carbonating or infusion for an activated carbon precursor containing one kind of metal selected from manganese, iron, cobalt, zirconium, platinum, and rare earth elements, and then conducting activation process.
SOLUTION: At least one kind of metal is selected from a group composed of manganese, iron, cobalt, zirconium, platinum and rare earth elements. An activated carbon precursor which can be easily made active carbon by carbonating or insolubilization and be mixed with a metal compound by a solvent, for example, polyacrylonitrile and a selected metal are mixed by the solvent. Subsequently, the solvent is removed by distillation under decompression, and then carbonating or insolubilization process is conducted. Further activation process is conducted to prepare activated carbon. The activated carbon can easily form a filter, and it is desirable to use the activated carbon in the fibrous state. Thus, manufacture can be facilitated and many pores can be provided, so that excellent ozonolysis performance can be exhibited and continued.
