To feed heating and reaction gases to corresponding ducts of a parallel flow and counter flow reactor even when the heating and reaction ducts have arbitrary arrangement to the cross-section of the reactor by making a medium I and a medium II respectively flow in parallel flow ducts of the first and the second sets mutually connecting both end faces of a cylindrical reactor.
A mixture of combustion gas/air is fed into heating ducts 9 of a monolithic reactor through a pipe piece 10, a chamber 2 of a reaction head RK and a flame holding pipe 8, and it burns there with a combustion catalyst covering the inner wall of a heating duct. Exhaust gas is exhausted outside through a guide pipe 8', a chamber 2' of a second reaction head RK' and a pipe piece 10'. Raw material flow is fed into reaction ducts 7 of the reactor through a pipe piece 11', a chamber 1' and a guide pipe 6' and the raw material flow is reacted to a product flow with a catalyst covering the inner wall and is exhausted from a pipe piece 11 through a guide pipe 6 and a chamber 1. The reaction head can feed both the heating medium and the reaction medium to the ducts distributed arbitrarily on the cross-section of the reactor.
