Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make possible to steer rear axles of a vehicle such as, for example, a two rear axle type truck, with a simple arrangement, by splitting a torque rod for supporting each rear axle into two sections which are retractably cou pled with each other by means of a feed screw, and by rotating the feed screw to change the effective length of the torque rod. CONSTITUTION:In a rear axle steering device in which front rear and rear rear axles of a vehicle such as a truck or the like, are suspended to both ends of leaf springs, and both ends of the front rear and rear rear axles are coupled to a vehicle body through the intermediary of torque rods 27, respectively, couplings 33, 34 are provided at both ends of each torque rod 27, and the cou pling 33 incorporates a geared motor 35 having its output shaft provided with a feed screw 36 while the coupling 34 is secured at its front end with a disc 37 formed therein with a female thread hole 38 into which the feed screws 26 is threadedly engaged. Further, a microcomputer 47 controls the drive of the geared motor 35 to change the effective length L between the couplings 33, 34 to steer the rear axles.
