Title:
RECEIVER FOR GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001215268
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a receiver for a global positioning system capable of reporting an accurate present position while reducing electricity consumption.

This GPS(global positioning system) receiver 11 used for detecting the position of a movable body is provided with a GPS receiving circuit 3 and a GPS demodulating circuit 4, for intermittently receiving and demodulating a satellite signal transmitted from a GPS satellite, and an intermittent-reception control circuit 12 for controlling intermittent reception intervals for the intermittent reception at the circuits 3, 4 according to the moving speed of the movable body. This enables the intermittent reception and demodulation to be performed with optimal intermittent reception intervals according to the speed of the movable body. A more accurate present position can be reported to a user while keeping unchanged a positioning error made during the intermittent reception without increasing electricity consumption.
