PURPOSE: To enhance the clearness of print image, by adding a modified thermocoagulating protein compound to a heat-sensitive recording layer.
CONSTITUTION: A recording layer is formed by coating a support such as plastic film or synthetic paper with an emulsion of a modified protein compound dispersed in water, followed by drying. The modified protein compound used is obtained by chemically modifying an isolated protein such as albumin or hemoglobin or a thermo-coagulating protein compound such as egg albumen composed primarily of albumin with a protein-modifying agent, e.g., guanidin, or hydrochloric acid, or physically modifying them by heat, pressure, etc., or biologically modifying them by microorganisms, enzymes, etc. Also, a sensitizer, a light-heat transducing substance, and a colorant may be added to the recording layer. The recording material is closely pressed on a permeable negative manuscript, exposed to light, and then washed with water. Thus, a clear-cut positive image can be obtained.
