PURPOSE: To constitute the recording and reproducing device and the recording device in such a manner that the need for tracking servo is eliminated and that recording and reproducing and recording are executed at extremely higher density than heretofore.
CONSTITUTION: This recording and reproducing device 100 has a recording medium 110 formed to a disk shape, a cantilever 122 formed with a probe 121 at its front end, a rotational driving mechanism 130 for rotating the recording medium 110 and a voltage applying device 140 for applying various voltages to this probe 121. The recording medium 110 consists of a disk substrate, a recording layer formed atop this disk substrate and side walls for forming track grooves formed in plural pieces concentrically on the recording layer. The probe 121 has a circular conical or pyramidal shape and its top end has a sharp shape.
