Title:
REDUCTION OF WATER AND POLAR IMPURITY IN IMIDE-ALKANE PERCARBOXYLIC ACID
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3894511
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing water and polar impurities in an amide-alkane percarboxylic acid useful as a bleaching agent in detergent compositions without performing a drying treatment slow and dangerous from an industrial viewpoint through a process for heating a suspension until the perfect fusion of solid contents.
SOLUTION: This method for reducing water and polar impurities in an imide-alkane percarboxylic acid comprises heating an aqueous suspension of the imide-alkane percarboxylic acid, until solid contents in the suspension are perfectly melted, separating the organic phase from the aqueous phase, and recovering the organic phase containing the imide-alkane percarboxylic acid. The carboxylic acid is preferably a compound of formula I {A is a group of formula II, a group of formula III[(n) is 0, 1, 2], etc.; R1 is H, chlorine, bromine, a 1-20C alkyl, a 2-20C alkyl, an aryl, an alkylaryl; R2 is H, chlorine, bromine, SO3M (M is H, an alkali metal ion, ammonium ion, etc.,), etc.; X is a 1-19C alkylene, an arylene}, especially phthalimide-peracetic acid, 3-phthalimide- perpropionic acid, etc.
