To provide a reed for a water jet loom hardly imparting an abrading damage and capable of realizing a stable and rapid weaving and to easily and rapidly weave a thermoplastic synthetic yarn fabric composed of a polyester multifilament yarn, etc., having almost no twist.
This reed 10 for a water jet loom has reed dents 1 with doglegged shapes bent to the cloth fell side at upper parts of the reed dents 1 in the installed state on the water jet loom. Preferably, the deep widths of the upper parts of the reed dents 1 are narrower than those of the lower parts of the reed dents 1 and, more preferably, the prolonging directions of the lower parts of the reed dents are tilted to anti-cloth fell side. Plural warps 6 composed of thermoplastic synthetic yarns having ≥100 turns/m twist count or substantially no twist count but having interlaced points by an interlacing treatment are used as the warps 6, weaving is performed by picking a weft into an opening of the warps by a water jet in the state of the warps 6 with shortened abrasion distances S due to the rocking of read 10 by using doglegged reed dents 1.
