Abstract:

PURPOSE: To effectively dephosphorizing and refining a molten steel by bringing a molten slag for dephosphorization consisting essentially of CaC2, CaF2, etc., into contact with a molten metal of high carbon and high chromium steel and agitating with blowing in a nonoxidizing gas.

CONSTITUTION: In a molten metal, which has a high carbon content containing less than the saturated carbon solubility and contains ≥3% Cr at least, a flux for dephosphorization, in which CaC2 and a halide of alkaline earths metal such as CaF2 are mixed at a ratio of 3 to 4:1, is supplied, and the molten metal is brought into sufficient contact with a molten slag containing CaC2, CAF2 while blowing an inert gas into a molten metal. At this case, the inert gas is blown in so as to satisfy 0≤V/W≤500 on the relationship between a flow rate V (Nl/min) of the inert gas and a molten metal quantity (ton). Without causing the oxidation loss of valuable contents of Cr, etc., in molten metal, P in the molten metal is removed and dephosphorized into the molten slag as Ca3p.
