End face 21a of an electromagnet unit 21 is positioned concentrically confronting the end face 11a of a permanent magnet 11 attached to one end face 2a of the transport roller 2. The permanent magnet 11 is rotated by the electromagnetic attraction force and repulsive force between the N-pole side magnetic flux and the S-pole side magnetic flux formed by the drive coil of the electromagnet unit 21 and the S-pole band and N-pole band of the permanent magnet 11. The electromagnet unit 21 and the permanent magnet 11 confront in the plane-to-plane form, and they can be put in proximity still more to each other. The direction of the magnetic flux from the electromagnet unit 21 is made perpendicular to the end face 21a of the electromagnet unit 21 and the end face 11a of the permanent magnet 11, and the magnetic field from the electromagnet unit 21 reaches the permanent magnet 11 efficiently.
