Title:
ROPES AND CORDS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2008174875
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide ropes and cords ecologically friendly such as the reduction of carbon dioxide gas generation by using a conjugate fiber containing a polymer derived from a biomass at least as a part of the fiber, and overcoming the drawbacks of the poor abrasion resistance, etc., of the product produced by using a biomass-derived polymer compared with a product produced by using a petroleum-based polymer.

The ropes and cords are composed of a conjugate fiber having a cross-section of sheath-core shape, wherein the sheath part is made of a petroleum-based polymer and the core part is made of a biomass-derived polymer. The ropes and cords preferably have a maximum impact load of 7.0 kN, defined as the maximum value of the load applied to the rope, measured by being attached to a sand bag of 85 kg weight and dropping from 3 m height. Preferably, the sheath part of the conjugate fiber constituting the ropes and cords is a polyethylene terephthalate and the core part is a polylactic acid.
