To provide a rotary compressor having a valve holder capable of increasing the valve opening/closing speed while maintaining silencing property.
A valve holder 4 comprises a base end side plate part 4a fixed to a valve installation part 1 of a front head 205 by a fixing pin 2, an abutting part c which is brought into contact with a delivery valve 3 to stop deflection of the delivery valve 3 when the delivery valve 3 is deflected, and a straight connection part 4b to connect the base end side plate part 4a to a distal end side abutting part c. Therefore, a clearance is formed between a surface of the delivery valve 3 on the valve holder 4 side and a surface of the connection part 4b of the valve holder 4 on the delivery valve 3 side when the surface of the delivery valve 3 on the valve holder 4 side is abutted on the distal end side abutting part c.
