The running control apparatus includes: depression error determination means that determines whether a depression error has been made in an acceleration request device on the basis of input own vehicle information or external recognition information; mode change means that changes, when the depression error determination means determines a depression error, from a first mode that makes a constant reaction of the acceleration request device with a constant depression amount to a second mode that makes the reaction of the acceleration request device smaller than the constant reaction or a third mode that fixes the reaction of the acceleration request device and an opening; and mode release means that changes from the changed second mode or the third mode to the first mode when a deceleration request is input.
