Abstract:

To provide a scavenger and a scavenging method capable of recovering useful metals dissolved in seawater at high efficiency by merely mooring in seawater such as the black current by introducing an adoxime group and/or a hydroxyl group into the graft polymerized side chain of a polyolefin based fiber substrate.

A scavenger is obtained by graft polymerizing a polymerizable monomer containing a cyano group (-CN) such as acrylonitrile (CH2=CHCN) in the presence or absence of a monomer having a hydrophilic group by graft polymerization with irradiation with radiation to form a graft polymerized side chain and reacting the cyano group of the graft polymerized side chain with hydroxylamine (NH2OH) to convert the cyano group of the graft polymerized side chain into an amidoxine group.
